Energy Efficiency Opportunities (EEO)
The EEO is a five-year program for large energy using businesses to identify opportunities to become more energy efficient. For the purposes of the EEO Act the entity that reports on behalf of UnitingCare Queensland and its service groups (including Wesley Mission Brisbane) is the Uniting Church in Australia Property Trust (Q).
The attached table highlights the key outcomes following the second review period. The main areas where savings have been identified are the fleet vehicles and lighting upgrades across a number of sites.
The UnitingCare Queensland fleet sees some 4 million litres of petrol and diesel and due to changes to the mix of vehicles to more efficient models savings to fuel costs have been estimated at $187 000 per year. Our largest site is the Wesley Hospital where savings in electricity consumption were identified of some $40 000 annually by changing the lights to more efficient types.
