Gold Coast Homelessness Service
Gold Coast Homelessness Service provides accommodation and support services to families and single people across the region.
We provide:
- Emergency accommodation for those over 18 years
- Support and referral for young people
- Crisis intervention, counselling and emotional support
- Training on living skills, budgeting skills and financial management
- Practical assistance and advocacy
People who are homeless or at risk of homelessness may contact us for assistance.
Southern Services, Gold Coast Homelessness Hub
GC Homelessness Hub is a single point of referral for all service on the Gold Coast. Based at Blair Athol, it is primarily a phone-based service but can respond to walk ins. GC Homelessness Hub also undertakes mobile outreach work such as meeting with at-risk of homelessness people in public places, or if provided with a call of concern, can go and visit homeless people in places they may be sleeping. GC Homelessness Hub refers people to either crisis accommodation, rental accommodation or subsidised rental accommodation. GC Homelessness Hub also provide short-term case management support for clients in need.
Southern Services, Blair Athol, and supported accommodation
Blair Athol is the name of the crisis accommodation at Bilinga, south Gold Coast. It has five single rooms available for crisis accommodation for homeless men. It is staffed 24/7. The service also provide food hampers to other crisis accommodation partners. Staff also support clients in a range of accommodation sites managed by our service, as well as clients living in accommodation run by other services across the Gold Coast. The long term objective for clients is to secure permanent, safe, affordable accommodation.
Northern Services, Bryant Place
Bryant Place is a transitional accommodation facility for men who have been long-term homeless (minimum of 12 months). It's a motel-style building in Labrador with staffing facilities and common areas. It houses 12 single rooms and similar to Blair Athol facility, also provides food and works with residents on life skills. Staff in this service also provide mobile support to ex-residents who have secured longer-term accommodation.

Iona House, Townsville
Iona House is a residential youth shelter that provides short term crisis accommodation to young women who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless aged 15-21 years. The service offers a safe, secure and supported living environment for young women to learn skills to assist them to successfully transition to independence.
Iona House can accommodate the immediate needs of up to six young women offering each resident their own private single furnished room in a safe and secure environment while teaching skills for independence by participating in the everyday running of the house including cleaning, menu planning and shopping, cooking and shared household responsibilities.
