Every day we see people who need someone to lean on. Those tackling mental illness, young people trying to make their way in the world, people facing addiction, adults struggling with finances, or communities reeling from disaster.
Whether you are in crisis or could just use some helpful information, UnitingCare is here to offer an open ear, strategies to understand feelings, and ways to build resilience and emotional wellbeing.
From childhood through to adult life, we’ll support you on your journey.
Mental health support
UnitingCare is here for you, through Lifeline’s 24-hour crisis support services; specialised programs for children and their families; and hospital-based mental health services.
Youth support
Being young isn’t always easy, which is why we work hard to provide young people who may feel disconnected and alone with the support to live engaging lives and build resilience.
Financial counselling
Financial difficulties can fall on anyone at any time. The good news is that as a not-for-profit organisation, UnitingCare can provide you with free financial counselling that works.
Gambling support
Free and confidential gambling counselling, support and information to people who are negatively affected by gambling in far north Queensland, and the Wide Bay and Burnett region.
Disaster relief and community recovery
Lifeline’s Community Recovery Team looks after a community’s emotional and psychosocial wellbeing following accidents or disasters such as floods, cyclones, bushfires and major health emergencies.
Drug and alcohol support
We offer residential alcohol and other drug rehabilitation services, predominantly to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, specialising in culturally appropriate healing services.
Prison ministry
Prison Ministry helps prisoners and their families cope during a difficult time of separation. We organise volunteer chaplains for spiritual and emotional support, food hampers, art therapy and much more.
Seniors support
We offer support for seniors, whatever their situation — whether they are experiencing elder abuse, are primary carers for grandchildren, or simply looking for information on local services.
Lifeline
In Queensland, UnitingCare operates Lifeline shops and services, including the 13 11 14 Crisis Support Line; suicide bereavement and prevention programs; and disaster recovery.
