Child, family and community support services in Cairns
More than just a neighbourhood centre, Birch Street Community Hub is a special place run by kind, passionate and inclusive staff who become like family to people doing it tough in the Cairns region.
For many years, we have been at the heart of our community. We take our role of serving vulnerable people seriously, whether it be for financial assistance, parenting advice, counselling, or just a cuppa and chat with a friendly face.
We support individuals and families through drop-in services, group activities and educational workshops on a range of life skills. Our family support services are co-located in the hub, so we can organise child and adult counselling. Our free pantry day is where we donate fresh fruit and vegetables, frozen meals and bakery goods as part of our emergency relief services.
We can also refer people to other community organisations for more specialised care, as well as provide telephone and internet access.
